Your roast day
We never pre-cook. The meat arrives raw, goes on the spit at your venue and comes off golden just as your guests get hungry. This is how the day runs.
Chef, gazebo, serving table and roasting machine, pitched on a 4×4m patch of open ground. Grass is best.
Free-range British pork or lamb goes on the spit, freshly prepared. Charcoal or gas, depending on your package.
Five to seven hours of patient roasting, turning over the heat while your party gets going.
We carve and serve for an hour: crackling, fresh rolls, apple sauce and our secret South African marinade.
Out quietly by the nearest exit. Leftovers stay with you, in your own dishes.
Who’s roasting
We’ve been roasting since 2007 from our base in Chessington, South West London, and now from Bordon in East Hampshire too.
Where we come from, a braai is how you bring people together. We brought that habit with us: home cooking, freshly made salads, real fire, and a team who stay calm while your party happens around them. A lot of our bookings come from return customers and the friends they bring.
Reviews
Hundreds of reviews across Google, Trustindex, Yell, Trustpilot and Facebook. A few of our favourites:
“Our guests could not compliment the food enough. The crackling was the best we had ever tasted.”
“First time hiring a caterer for a private party so we were slightly nervous, but there was absolutely no need – it was the best decision we made! … Delicious loin and lamb for 35/40 people (at a competitive price) with plenty to go around.”
“Top notch braai. Perfectly done lamb. Amazing potatoes and juicy wors. Couldn’t be a prouder South African. And great service too.”
“They arrived in a lovely little retro van which was so right for the Village Hall venue and he and his team served the most delicious Pulled Pork and Lamb burgers – all cooked fresh!”
“Trying to get 100 co-workers to agree on the catering for our staff party was like herding cats… Everything was cooked fresh and very very tasty.”
“The food was incredible taking ‘burgers’ to a different level. Gary and Steve were a well-oiled machine serving around 70 of us with no fuss.”
